I’ve been a volunteer for Love and Hope Rescue Mission for eight years as an assistant program director. I oversee their day-to-day clinical and fiscal operations of Mental Health Services including the timely submission of required reports and intakes from their client. I’ve always volunteered in my community since the age of twenty, but I decided to join Love and Hope Rescue Mission because I saw the passion and change it was making in the community. I’ve seen family members and friends that I went to school with that I knew growing up that was a struggling addict and homeless and today they can say no more because of this organization. In 2029, I’ve decided to start doing what I love doing which is to help women, teens and children in disparities going through mental health disorders, substance abuse, depression, low w self-esteem and more. I strongly believe in the power of prayer which I incorporated in my nonprofit as one of the tools to help. The purpose of this organization is to support, encourage, educate, build, and teach women how to value themselves. Because we are unique, gifted and powerful.

Dr. Montalvo is of Puerto Rican origin and she earned her doctoral degree from Ponce Health Sciences University, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She completed her clinical internship at the Children’s Hospital of Colorado, in Aurora, Colorado. She obtained post-doctoral training through the Nemours Network, both in Jacksonville, Florida and Wilmington, Delaware. She has been a Delaware resident for five years, during which she has had the opportunity to work in medical settings, outpatient clinics, and work in the development of various community mental health programs.

She understands the need for more culturally competent and diverse services in the state of Delaware. To respond to this need, she developed her own business, MindVenture Consultants. Through this business, she is able to work with families affected by immigration issues. She also mentors individuals who are pursuing personal and/or career goals and who are in need of additional motivation and support to accomplish their dreams. In addition, she provides supervision and consultation services to other clinicians and agencies, empowering others to enter and remain in the mental health field.

Dr. Montalvo is passionate about the career path she chose and is looking forward to continuing to do what she loves, by staying connected to the needs of our community.

Other passions of hers include cooking, dancing, writing poetry, and hiking.

Dr. Montalvo-Artis joined Women of Exception because it is an opportunity to connect with other women who share common interests and face similar challenges. Together, we can provide support to one another, increase awareness about our needs and values, and empower more women to continue to grow, lead, and create a positive impact in our community
